Individual Counseling for women and men

Do you keep doing what you said you wouldn't or

are not doing what you said you would?

Can't change how you're feeling?

I'm guessing you've spent time researching what to try online.

Perhaps you're following recommendations that support well-being,

you've read the books, and listened to the podcasts, and yet...

you're not able to overcome what's happening?

You haven't failed and you are not weak―you are human.

This is a good time to reach out for help.

We are not wired to be able to do all things for ourselves.

If you've got just enough curiosity to show up, you and I can help you meet your goals.

What you can expect

First Session

Treatment Planning

Upon scheduling, you will receive an intake packet with essential information and forms.

The goal in this first session is to understand, from your perspective, what it's like to be you.

We explore what brought you in, perhaps pertinent history, and share a glimpse into what you experience now and what you hope for.

My focus is on you, and your experience.

While diagnosis isn't a focus of mine, it is considered if it's relevant in choosing a therapy that fits you.

We collaborate to design a treatment plan if you want one more formal clinical one.

Therapy is offered in a format that also

works for you.

How you experience life matters―it matters a lot.

Thus, we focus on naming what is working, and we do more of it.

We are curious about barriers, then offer therapy and/or coping skills to fill in the gaps.

If applicable, we focus on healing.

When we've suffered wounds, our physical body knows what to do to heal. In the same way, the body, brain, and soul also know how to heal emotionally.

Today's therapies offer opportunities for facilitating  healing, some are IFS, EMDR, or CPT

Individuals come in for all kinds of primary reasons. Here is a list of some of them.

Depression

Loss, Grief

Anxiety

Trauma, recent and past

Relationship problems

Abusive relationships

Eating problems

Sleep problems

Work or school problems

OCD

Addictions

Self Harm

Social Anxiety

Stress

You and I can "work" on these together.

Do I really need to come in?

Information, self-help, and education are great. In and of themselves―they are not enough.

(If they were, we would not have the ongoing problems we have in society).

Sometimes it's the barriers or unknown influences that are keeping you from engaging in support systems or well-being-focused living. Therapy helps here, and for most other areas of personal exploration.

If you are fortunate to access support through a trained therapist, you are enriched.

FAQs

  •  How much will it cost? Each session is $140. At the beginning of therapy, I  can give you an educated estimate for the number of sessions, given your situation. If sessions are limited we will focus on the most impactful interventions. There are limited sliding scale slots, and there are some organizations that can sometimes partially scholarship people.
  • How often will I need to come in? Once I know your situation I will recommend a frequency of sessions. Sometimes the schedule has more to do with this, but my recommendation is to start out with 4-6 consecutive weekly sessions to gain traction. Then we can spread them out from there.
  • What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help? This is not uncommon. Therapy, even the same type of therapy, is a different experience from therapist to therapist. The therapeutic connection is significant to successful outcomes. So if I'm not a good fit, you are encouraged to try someone else. But you can't know until you try.
